John O'Hair

John O'Hair, III passed away on Friday, September 8, 2006 (1930-2006). John graduated from the University of Arizona with his Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1957 and at the time of his death was the longest registered mechanical engineer in Tucson (1962).

 

Over the years he has been an active ASHRAE member, beginning at the chapter level in the early 1960s when the Tucson Chapter was formed. In addition to his activities with ASHRAE he was also a past Vice Chairman of the Western Region of rhe National Society of Professional Engineers, and a member of the National Fire Protection Association and Professional Engineers in Private Practice.

 

His engineering career started in 1955 while he was a student with Terry Atkinson, Architect, in Tucson, Arizona where he worked on projects at the Tucson Medical Center Hospital, several University of Arizona projects including the Home Economics Building, the Utility Tunnel and Administration buildings at Northern Arizona University, and the Penny's Department Store in Tucson.

 

Other stops along the professional way included being a Flight Superintended for Morreson Kndusen at Warren AFB in Wyoming, Associate at Carl Hadra & Associates in Phoenix in charge of the Los Angeles office, and VP of Engineering for Adrian Wilson Associates, Los Angeles.
